Employment Prospects Survey |
| Full-time MBA program |
The career opportunities for MBAs are definitely not as good as they were and
certainly an MBA is no longer a sufficient qualification to get a job.
Prospective employers will look more at your background than the fact you have
an
INSEAD MBA so don't plan on making a drastic career change!
If you want to be an entreprenuer, you're probably better off 'just doing it'
and investing the tuition fees in your business (and a bunch of self-learning
books!).
The people who get the most value out of INSEAD are people who have established
careers and simply want to advance them, rather than people who want to make a
complete change.
For a long time INSEAD graduates were snapped up by the consulting firms and
investment banks, so much so that the INSEAD careers office really only caters
for those careers. They are currently shaking things up but in 2003, there was
really less support for 'non-traditional' careers, or 'independent' job
searches.
One of the big benefits of INSEAD is an extensive alumni network that you can
contact for job advice, etc. Some alumni are helpful, some aren't (i.e. ignore
your mails). In general, though, I've been very happy with my alumni contacts
and
have been able to make great contacts.
