The HBS name goes a long way, but it's certainly no guarantee of placement. Most
of the big companies recruit at HBS, but my experience (class of 02) was that the
depressed economy meant that most of the usual suspects weren't looking,
especially banking & consulting. There's a career office that will help you, and
they have an extensive suite of career planning options. However, there's no
direct pipeline to success. The real career-building value of HBS is the alumni
network. There are thousands and thousands of successful individuals in every
possible line of work, and many of them are happy to help out with information or
a recommendation, if and when they can.
