I actually live relatively far from campus, but the MARTA mass transit system makes it very, very easy to get to and from school. One word of wisdom: if you're going to live very far from school and you plan to drive in each day, be prepared for traffic. Atlanta is notorious for having slow- moving, high volume traffic, so be aware of that when you are selecting your residence. Other than the traffic, though, my wife and I have loved Atlanta. There's lots to do (when you can find the time!) and something for every taste.
