The essays for Georgia Tech were a little different than other schools, but that makes it interesting. The interview was optional, but I think they are going towards trying to interview as many as possible and eventually making it mandatory. The school is selective, but is also trying to grow their class size right now, so if you have something unique to offer you'll probably not have a problem. In addition, they give a large percentage of GRA (Graduate Research Assistantships) to well-qualified students which essentially means by working for the school for a few hours you get a small stipend and tuition is paid for - a great deal.
