This is tough to comment on, given the time I got the degree. When I graduated
in 2000, the internet bubble was about to burst, but there were still a lot of
job offers out there from start ups with a lot of capital and no future.
The biggest recruiters were the (then) big-6 or big-5
accounting and consulting firms, as well as technology consultants, like AMS.
Wall Street career opportunities were nil - meaning these firms did not recruit
Fordham students. But the alumni network was solid in this field, and that is
how Fordham grads broke into investment banking and the like back then.
Career placement was a work in process. They had just brought in NYU's career
placement person (John Hotard), and he was trying to figure out how to get
recruiters to pay attention to a non-"name" school like Fordham after what I
would assume was a relatively easier life at highly-ranked NYU. As the economy
started tanking after I left, I'd be surprised if any progress has been made
since.
