Chapman has probably surpassed University of Miami as the business school of
choice in South Florida. Its main competitor in the state may now be University
of Florida at Gainesville, another research university. Chapman enjoys a good
reputation in the community, and is gaining in prominence elsewhere,
particularly
as a business school geared toward high tech. A number of large employers, such
as IBM, Bellsouth, Motorola, etc., recruit there. Also,
some local companies recruit, but many Miami companies are owned by uneducated
people who may not understand what MBAs do; as a result, the lower salaries
they
offer are not attractive to the better students. Best strategy to get good
position is to take
advantage of the internships offered at the business school (especially through
connected professors).
