Parties galore! The Greek scene is huge, which means lots of parties.
There are organizations of all types to join including academic-
related, dance troups, intramural sports, service organizations, and
state/city-based clubs (Club Altanta, California Club, etc.). There are
lots of clubs and bars in Tallahassee, which is to be expected in a city
with over 60,000 students. Parties/clubs can be found every day of the
week, so stay focused!!! Lots of restaurants as well, especially chain
restaurants. You have to work a little to find a good independent
restaurant, but they are out there. Campus live really revolves around
football and the band. The Marching 100 is the most televised, most
popular marching band in the world--and that's said with complete
objectivity. To many people, the Hundred *IS* FAMU. Football is big and
the team is moving up to Division I-A next season. The stadium will be
expanded to 45,000 capacity for the 2004 season. A much needed new
basketball arena and student fitness center will also be going up for
the 2004 season. FAMU Homecoming is the greatest time in Tallahassee.
Just a wild, crazy, fun time. Additionally, cities are relatively close-
-Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville are all no
more than 6 hours away by car. Great road trips with friends. You'll
need them, especially after football season because the social scene
tends to die down just a bit in Florida's capital.
