| Part-time MBA program |
Career counseling is not normally relevant for part-time students until the last
year of the program. The school is; however, cognizant of a student who finds
themselves unemployed mid-stream. The Career Management Center (CMC) has taken
great pains to develop assistive and facilitative programs so that students hone
the skills necessary to pilot their own career development. Do not come to the
office looking for handouts.
That said, Goizueta CMC does not leave students entirely to their own devices as
you might expect at Wharton or Harvard. Great care has been placed on
facilitation and coaching with a high degree of feedback. For traditional
employment seekers (investment banking, consulting, consumer products marketing,
and corporate finance) the school offers a reasonable complement of contacts
given the size and relative age of the program. For less traditional MBA careers
(sports marketing, real estate, and entrepreneurship) you are well served to
start your own search early- even though many students are currently solidifying
inroads in the areas previously mentioned.
Goizueta??s strength, clearly, is in its regional alumni connections, though a
concerted effort has been under way for the last few years to expand connections
with alumni in Silicon Valley and New York. The school has a relatively advanced
alumni database with search functions, as well as a CMC-managed corporate
contacts database.
