Admission & Application Survey |
| Executive MBA Program |
The application process was rigorous and competitive because space was
limited. You began by attending an orientation for prospective candidates who
met the initial requirements: at least 28 years old, with a 4-year degree and at
least 5 years prior work experience, with at least 2 of those in a management
position. Then you filled out a detailed application, including an essay on why
you thought your contributions would be valuable to your fellow students, as
well
as what you wanted to accomplish personally and professionally. Then you
submitted college transcripts, SAT scores and GMAT scores, which had to meet
their standards for acceptance. Then you had to provide 3 to 5 letters of
recommendation, including your immediate boss and your company or division
senior officer. If you got through all that successfully, you were invited to a
one-
on-one interview with the Admissions Dean of the EMBA program. Competition
was stiff, as applicants came from as far away as Minnesota, Ohio and
Tennessee; and large companies like Coke, UPS, P&G and BellSouth were
major supporters of the program who wanted their high-potential employees to
attend. The essay and the interview were very important, as they gave an
opportunity for the admissions committee to judge how much you would be able
to contribute to the quality of the class, by your participation as well as your
course work.
