Barcelona, and Spain, in general, are very social places culturally.
Spaniards know how to live, know how to party, know how to have a good
time.
Pub crawling generally starts very late in Spain- midnight is "early"-
and continues all of the way to the wee hours. There are plenty of
clubs, discotheques, bars, taverns... you name it... with many
different "scenes." One can ALWAYS find something to do and somebody to
meet! I had circles of friends both inside and outside of the school.
As to school-specific events, I think ESADE has plenty. Students
will "set a date and a bar" where everyone can meet. I'm sure that each
class "establishes" its favorites, so the favorites are changing
constantly! Occasionally, there are excellent parties produced by
students at nearby restaurants or resorts, where part of the ESADE
tuition covers costs. Many students also throw their own parties at
their apartments. I found that the "English-track" group was very
closely-knit.... the approximately 50 students were frequently partying
together, and since our studies together, we see each other at one
another's weddings around the world.
One of my favorite events was "The MBA Olympics" thrown at the HEC
campus, outside of Paris, France. Many European B-schools compete in
athletic events, and socialize in parties during the evenings of the 4
day event. The bus trips are fun, and it is a trip to meet so many
interesting, intelligent, up-and-coming business managers!
