In terms of places to go to school, Durham is great. It is incredibly
affordable and being associated with Duke offers a wealth of other
opportunities (great gyms, basketball tickets to Duke games,
exceptional medical facilities, etc.). Shopping, concerts, parks, etc.
are all well within anyone's reach. But, if you want the big city life,
Durham does not have it. You need a car to car to get around and the
streets are not really pedestrian friendly. But, Raleigh is only 30
minutes away and has a lot of the big city ammenities that people tend
to miss.
