SOCIAL LIFE
A handful of local pubs and some school parties form the center of the
social scene; the two favorites are Murphy's Pub Night on Thursday and
5 Olde Nugget Alley Wing Night on Wed(known as 5 Olde). A lot of
informal get-togethers happen at people's houses. There's usually
something going on related to the MBA program, but if you don't feel
like hanging out with your classmates, the options are limited.
There are a few good restaurants in and around town. Usually you can
find decent (albeit somewhat overpriced) American and New England food
(tending towards the sweet or heavy). One exception is the pub at the
Norwich Inn, where you can usually get great food for under $20 a
person.
Ethnic food is generally a disappointment for those from big cities,
except for a decent Japanese steakhouse chain (Koto Japanese) nearby.
DATING SCENE
Hard to say for those of us with partners, but not terribly encouraging
from the evidence. A number of students do end up hooking up, but
relationships occur in the fishbowl that is life in a small town.
EVENTS/CLUBS
Lots of options! Tuck students are very active and get a lot of
support from the administration. There are clubs for every interest,
and if you there aren't, you can start one. The Dartmouth Hopkins
Center has some decent drama and music acts that show up as well.
