Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time MBA program |
The admission process is very thorough. It consists of an application
form (which includes several essays), tests (GMAT and TOEFL) and an
interview with a faculty member(either on campus or by phone for people
from outside the UK). As an alternative to the GMAT, applicants are
allowed to take the Cranfield test on the interview day.
From my experience, GMAT it is not the single most important factor to
select future students. More emphasis is given to the quality of essays
and the interview.
Once your application form has been evaluated, the admission committee
either invites you for the interview or rejects your application.
The interview day takes about 6 hours and it offers an opportunity to
taste the Cranfield experience. The interview itself consists of 2
parts: a) Students are first asked to give a 3 minutes presentation to
the interviewer on a given subject and b) briefly discuss a couple of
case studies.
Students are then offered a tour through the school facilities (lecture
theatres, syndicate areas, accommodations, etc.), attend a presentation
from the Full-time MBA Director and a MBA lecture and then have lunch
with students as an opportunity to ask questions to your peers.
The school efficiency in dealing with the admission process (including
the interview) is amazing.
My advice to applicants is to spend time on essays and to show at least
some extra-curricula activities. Where possible, I would suggest to
avoid to focus everything on work experience. In fact, as part of their
MBA at Cranfield, students will organise several events (sports,
dancing, quiz, debates, trips, parties, etc.) and therefore social
skills are important to make the Cranfield experience really unique.
Team spirit, honesty, involvement and willingness to help others are
probably the most descriptive words for what you need to succeed at
Cranfield.
