Despite the urban setting, CBS is a tight-knit community. While in
school, students' social lives tend to revolve around each other,
facilitated on Thursday nights by the much-anticipated "Happy Hours".
Students line up at the door to Uris Deli starting at 6:30pm to munch on
free food and drink free beer while swapping classroom war stories with
friends. But CBS' social scene doesn't revolve around free beer.
Student groups are always forming for evenings out at the theatre,
ballet, opera, Knicks game, or just a nice group dinner at one of NYC's
famous restaurants.
When it comes to travel, every year the Ski Club puts together a
not-to-be-missed ski trip to a premier North American ski destination.
Last year it was Whistler, B.C. and this year it was Steamboat, Colorado.
Anywhere from 250 - 300 students descend on the ski village for a week
of skiing, hot-tubbing, condo parties, and more. There are also plenty
of other opportunities for group travel to other exciting and far-flung
destinations. For instance, last year students organized trips to China,
Peru, Belize, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, Korea, London, Los Angeles and San
Francisco. If you have an idea for a group trip, you are encouraged to
meet with a member of the Chazen Institute who will help you to plan your
trip and get academic sponsorship.
And now for the question everyone wants to know the answer to: what is
the dating scene like?! Let me see. This year there are 11 CBS couples
that I know of, all of whom met at school. That's not to say that if you
come to CBS you will meet the man/woman of your dreams. (Not that the
Admissions Office wouldn't like to promise you that!) But for all you
gentlemen out there who hope that, in addition to your MBA, you might
also find your MRS: CBS has the highest percentage of female students of
any of the top business schools. You're smart -- you do the math.
