ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
On-campus graduate student housing is only available to students who did
not live in the Tri-State area prior to business school. For those
students who do qualify for on-campus graduate student housing it's
usually pretty spacious, although not always the most modern.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Morningside Heights used to be a less than desirable area, but over the
years the unwelcome element has moved out and has been replaced with tons
of restaurants and shops. There are several restaurants that students
frequent for lunch/dinner, and you'll often find students hanging out at
The West End for a beer after class.
I have yet to hear of anyone being mugged. I don't feel unsafe walking
around by myself at night. Of course, you always want to be aware of
your surroundings, but overall I'd say that, for a city, it's a very safe
area.
EXPENSES/FINANCIAL AID
NYC is not a cheap place to live. It is possible, though, to live on the
modest budget that the student financial aid office sets for you if you
keep your eye on your wallet...and know where to get cheap eats. And if
you find that you just can't cut it on the student budget, you can apply
for a once-per-academic-year budget increase, which is granted about 99%
of the time.
QUALITY OF LIFE
It's the BIG APPLE! There's got to be a reason that 8 million people
want to cram themselves onto a tiny island and live on top of each other.
Still not getting it? Let me spell it out for you: Broadway,
Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, Wall Street, SoHo,
Chelsea, Madison Square Garden, Greenwich Village, Central Park,
Brooklyn, the Yankees, the Mets.
