While the boom of the 1990s led to a significant focus on Finance and investment
management, Columbia is returning to a more balanced emphasis. While Wall Street
will always attract a large number of students, Columbia's traditional strengths
have been Operations Management and Marketing, and students are seeking more
opportunities in these career areas. Entrepreneurship, which draws from all of
these disciplines, has become very popular with the introduction of the Lang
Entrepreneurship program, which funds student-led ventures.
