My experience with the admissions process when I applied over 20 years
ago is probably not relevant. However, I have been an Alumni Interviewer
for the past 5 years and have been active in the recruiting process.
Columbia's program has become extremely competitive in the past 10 years
as the school has become the top international MBA program. US born
candidates must demonstrate unique qualities and very strong academic
capability even to get interviewed (interviews are only done when the
admissions office feels the need - not all admitted students are
interviewed).
