W&M is very into interpersonal skills, so it is imperative that a
prospective actually interview. Without an interview, it will be
difficult to get in. The school also prides itself on the ability of
its students to effect change not only at their place of future
employment, but also in the community. A big focus is placed on the
differences between cultures and how to manage people in general. The
school is also proud of its small class size and the benefits that go
with that, and essays should reflect pretty much all of the above. The
school is becoming more selective but does not solely focus on the GMAT
or academics. Experience, maturity (as perceived in the interview),
confidence, and a good idea how you will fit in with and give back to
the school, community, and class is key. International experience is
also a plus, as the class is about 40% international students.
