Start much earlier than I did - this was my safety school, so I applied
in March, the last official deadline, and I didn't find out until after I
was admitted that you had to apply by January to get considered for the
bulk of the financial aid awards. As far as the interview goes: relax,
relax, relax. If I had to pick the biggest differentiator between my
first choice school (where I was waitlisted) and William & Mary (I was
accepted a week or two later) it would be that I was much calmer for my
interview at W&M. Practically everything else was identical - I used
similar topics for both schools' essays. It helped that the admissions
officer that greeted me had a nice big unintimidating smile, which
immediately set me at ease. After that point, our discussion was far more
like a conversation than an interview, which only increased my confidence.
