I personally believe that Pittsburgh doesn't get enough credit for its
social scene. I think it offers a variety of things for both families
and singles. The only problem is that you rarely have time between
classes and school work to really explore the city much.
There are quite a few great restaurants in and around the city - from
big chains to small Pittsburgh natives. The South Side and Shadyside
offer a wide variety of smaller single proprietary restaurants while
the Waterfront probably offers the most commercial choices for
restaurants and entertainment, such as Dave and Busters and PF Changs.
This city is also a great place for runners and dog lovers. I've
noticed more runners here who are dedicated to the task no matter what
the weather conditions are. I suspect its because of the great race
that they have here which brings people in from all other the US.
Dog lovers will find a quaint little dog park as well as a cute little
little pet boutique and plenty of other coherts (canine and human) in
the city.
