The neighborhoods around the school are some of the nicest areas in
Pittsburgh, offering that main street type of community feel. Most of
the students will stay in the areas of Shadyside or Squirrel Hill.
Both areas offer entertainment for singles and families.
Although I did not buy a house here I did hear that the property taxes
can be a little high. As a renter, I can speak from my experience with
my apartment and the others I've observed here that the rent is fair
considering the amenities that a lot of apartments will offer (ie
proximity to Carnegie Mellon Shuttle or public transportation, security
and parking). Since the school is right down the street from
University of Pittsburgh, rental options are always available.
