Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time MBA program |
The school is known as very quantitative. These skills should be made
prominent on the resume, although not a key requirement, those skills
make a candidate more attractive.
The essays are standard fare, with questions that most should be able to
answer in a behavioral interview. Thought should be placed on them,
though, and they should not be disregarded as they are an important part
of the admission process.
CMU is a selective school with the acceptance rate ranging from 15-30%.
It is a 'small' school with the average class size of 250 and classroom
sizes ranging from 5-70.
The interview process can be done at MBA fairs around the country, on
campus in Pittsburgh, and over the phone. I chose the phone interview
since I worked right up to the weekend before the "Welcome Weekend" the
school holds for incoming students. Again, questions ranged from "Why
GSIA?" to "What do you have to offer the program?"; I would say that the
questions were very similar to what a behavioral interview for a
potential employer is like. A walk through the resume and highlighting
key points of your career should be easily explained. What the MBA will
do to enhance your career and why you chose to pursue the degree are key.
