Full/part-time MPA program Cal State Fullerton is a commuter school. It is located right next to the 57 freeway in Orange County. A new set of dormitory buildings was just built, which took away parking spaces. Parking is probably the biggest issue - there's a huge shortage: about 10,000 spaces (optimistic estimate) for more than 28,000 students (CSUF has been about 5% over its enrollment cap for the past five years). The administration has not been responsive to student needs in this regard, and so students must park in the surrounding neighborhoods, which angers the residents: there is a push to make the streets around the University private (students' cars will be towed). While they are public however, students can legally park there but don't be surprised if your car is vandalized. If you want a parking permit, it will cost $100 and is expected to increase if it hasn't already. Students are extremely aggressive when it comes to claiming a parking space - there have been fights and cars get vandalized easily. The area around the University has a fairly low crime rate as far as I know. Mostly traffic problems when everyone comes to school or leaves.
