Every semester the amount and quality o recruiters on campus increases. The
school has been adding at least 1 or 2 people in the staff at the Career Center
every semester; in addition, a number of outside career consultants have been
hired to be on campus as a resource every day of the week for numerous functions:
career explorations, interview preparations, resume and business writing
critique, etc.
Also, the Career Center has been focusing on bringing the companies that we, the
students, have expressed an interest in.
It is funny, BU GSM is sometimes not even in the map of certain recruiters but
once a student manages to break in as a Summer intern or a full time employee
-with the help of the Career Center (examples include JP Morgan, Pfizer,
Citigroup, Sun, Fidelity, etc), they fall in love with the school and its
students. From that, they now recruit on a regular basis at our school. As with
anything Quality shows!
Every week we have companies on campus for a number of reasons. Some weeks we
have 5, others we have 1. Especially with the economy picking up.
As in any case, your placement depends on you and you only. The difference
between BU GSM and a top 5 school in rankings is that we do not have the clout to
bring 30 or 40 different recruiters on campus in one certain week of the semester
to recruit and pretty much have the majority of the stidents either placed or
with solid job prospects, as in some of those top 5 schools; but hey, who said
anything about there being such thing as a free ride!
