North-west Washington, DC (where American University (AU)) is located
in an ideal place with lots of things to do. The crime level in this
area is low and safe compared to most of Washington, D.C. I lived off
campus since housing on campus was fairly expensive compared to what
you pay for an shared apartment. The housing conditions on campus
needed some attention in areas such as better living conditions and
street lighting.
The campus is beautifully manicured by the AU staff and the facilities
are very easy to use and get to since the campus buildings is tightly
spaced around the "Horse Shoe". AU has a student bus service that
takes you around the campus every 15 minutes and a shuttle service to
the local Metro train station. There are some Metro Bus service stops
on campus if a student wanted a different mode of transportation to get
around Washington, D.C.
