| Full-Time MBA in International Business |
In advance, I spoke with a friend who just got his MBA at American
University before I typed this report. A lot of things are similar,
now at American University, as to when I completed my MBA:
The admissions process was very typical of college
admissions/applications. American University (AU) requires three
essays pertaining to certain topics and a few letters of
recommendations (work-related). The application takes about an hour to
complete with the essays (dependent on individual competencies).
After mailing the application, the admission department lets you know
within a few weeks if you had been accepted. Once accepted, AU
bombards you with flyers for orientation, reading materials pertaining
to the university, surrounding area attractions, housing & apartment
information, and financial aid.
Orientation is very well planned and the personnel were very
professional and courteous. Getting help was fast and a "non-issue".
On-campus tours are routinely scheduled around the clock for all new
students that sign-up.
If you're transferring from another university or college, you better
have the admissions office (in advance) verify in WRITING that the
courses being transferred are accepted by AU. I had heard a lot of
stories that students had to retake courses that were completed
elsewhere. That's a very expensive "surprise" if a student is already
enrolled at AU.
