The Student Bar Association plans many events for the law students:
dances, picnics, softball, etc. "Law Revue" is similar to a prom, but
for law students, and includes an award ceremony for the professor voted
most popular. Another big event is the Halloween party.
There are also many on-campus clubs, including Law Partners, which
brings law students and their families together for fun events (bowling,
barbeques). The Willamette University Public Interest Law Project
(WUPILP) has a major auction in the spring. This is a very popular
event. It includes both an oral and a silent auction. Professors get
very involved and submit various things to bid on, including dinners
with law professors, golf games, a stay in one of their vacation homes,
etc. In the past, dinners at the professors' homes have gone for as
much as $900 for a dinner of a eight. The auction includes wine tasting
from local wineries, kegs, and appetizers.
The Ram is a popular sports bar close to campus. Magoo's, another bar,
is also a popular spot for law students (and has shuffleboard). I was a
big fan of the Newport restaurant's happy hour: $2.00 for entrees, like
fish and chips, hamburgers and pasta.
