Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time law program |
As with all law schools, you must take the LSAT. Willamette is not the
most selective law school, but you should still have at least a 150
score on your LSAT and a 3.0 GPA. A majority of students enrolled
receive some scholarship from the Trustees. I had a 160 LSAT and a 3.78
undergraduate GPA and received nearly a full scholarship. There is no
interview involved in the admissions process - only an application with
a section for a personal statement. The admissions office is very
helpful, as is Student Services. You are not just another number to
them.
Prior to law school, I thought I would need to go to a top 25 school,
and I did get accepted to one of those schools. It wasn't until the
very last minute that I changed my mind (it was the end of May 2000). I
contacted Willamette to say that I made a mistake and did want to accept
the offer of admission. They went out of their way to help me and I was
still able to keep my scholarship.
Scholarships are important. I think I made a good choice going to a
lesser-known school and receiving a full scholarship. I have much less
debt than I would have had I gone to a more prestigious school and not
received a scholarship.
