Social Life Survey |
| Full time law program |
There are bi-weekly "Blackacre" parties in which the school or student
organizations supply food and beer on Fridays. Also, Thursday nights
are "Bar Review nights," in which a location is named and law students
converge on the place for adult beverages and to socialize/scam. Dating
within the school can seem incestuous at times -- it's a function of the
small size of the school. You will often here the feel of the place
described as "high school," but really it's just a small group of people
acting petty, as people are wont to do on occasion. Other dating
opportunities are available: the business school for the ladies (male to
female ratio there is around 4:1, and it is right next door; undergrads
and humanities grad students for the guys. But you will have to
actually try to have a social life - no one is going to drag you out of
your library cubby, at least not on a regular basis. As far as law
school goes, I would imagine it is among the more social, but that is a
skewed measure (law students v. normal people). The student body is
predominantly young and single, although there is a smattering of
marrieds and parents -- more so by the end of school than at the
beginning. Finally, a word of wisdom: don't date within your section
if you are a 1st year. You will spend wayyyy too much time together if
it does not pan out.
