Quality of Life Survey |
| full-time law program |
Nashville is horrible if you come from a more urban environment.
Nashville is more like a mix between a suburb and a pseudo-corporate
music town. Living is cheap here, but that's not unexpected because you
have nothing to do here, other than going to local bars. I'd say that
quality of life is the absolute worst part of Vandy. If you have any
doubts about moving to the South, do NOT come to Vandy because it's
definitely Southern, sleepy and full of awkward racial tension. As for
Vandy itself, it has beautiful facilities which were built in 2000-01.
Everything is very glossy and high tech with a nice modern decor. Most
rooms have wireless internet access, multiple outlets for laptop users,
etc. The campus is pretty safe, but there have been several thefts in
the law school-mostly people leaving their laptop somewhere and
returning to find it missing. Vandy has had some weird sexual problems,
with flashers and people who will ask for directions and when you walk
up to the car, you find them pleasuring themselves. Strange, but true.
Nashville is also not the safest place. There are lots of homeless
people, and the campus straddles the more exclusive neighborhoods and
the ghetto. Live close to campus and watch your belongings.
