Vanderbilt campus is very close to downtown -- some of the areas around
campus are not the nicest of neighborhoods. However, it is central to
most places you want to go to eat, drink and be merry (far from the
airport, but oh well). If you're not an east- or west-coast snob, you
will not find you lack things to do. And the music scene is awesome --
lots of concerts available. The campus itself is beautiful, with nice
facilities -- the law building is brand-spanking new (completed in '02),
and wired. I personally found it cheap to live there, but I'm from CA --
if you're from the middle of the KS plain, you'll probably think it's
pretty spendy. For male students, the female undergrads add to the
aesthetics of the place -- lots of blonde-haired blue-eyed young ladies
running around (many from Texas, for whatever reason). Also, the gym is
good, and Vanderbilt is an SEC school, so there are lots of
opportunities to watch Vandy lose at sporting events.
