This is Penn's strongest point. The school is a great place to spend
three years. Philly's actually a very excellent city, if you give it a
chance. Housing can be really affordable, though if you go too far west
of campus you're in a pretty sketchy area. Facilities are great both at
the law school and the university as a whole. I wasn't so impressed
with the law school dining facility, but I almost never ate there. The
Library is brand new, and truly wonderful -- the librarians while I was
there were some of the most pleasant and helpful individuals I have ever
come into contact with in any professional setting. Security (pre 9-11)
was a bit lax, and my bicycle kept getting stolen (in parts), but unless
I was in a not-so-good area, I never felt unsafe. (Caveat: I am a 250lb
guy, so that last sentence might not apply to everyone. I know I had
girlfriends who were more apprehensive.)
