There is still an early admissions process but it seems that candidates
from it are now regularly deferred into the regular admissions pool from
the early admissions pool, unless they are truly unusual in terms of
numbers. Last year the school used a "hold" list and a waitlist, and took
class members off both lists, with the hold list having somewhat more of
a chance to get in. I personally know people who did not get in off both
lists, but, I also know people who got in off both lists. The school has
gotten a lot more selective in the past few years, and the recent US News
scores are probably not accurate if you come from a major northeastern city.
