Quality of Life Survey |
| Law |
The law school is on the East Bank of campus, seperated from the West
Bank by the Mississippi river. The East Bank is comprised of the law
school and other graduate school buildings. The West Bank is the main
part of campus, comprised of undergraduate classrooms and dorms, and
athletic facilities. There are both advantages and disadvantages to
this set up. On the positive side, students are in their own
environment, away from the undergraduate life of the college, and able
to focus on studies while associating with mostly other students of the
same experience and mindset. On the other hand, there is some loss in
the quality of life in so far as it is difficult to attend some
University events, such as sporting events and the university rec
center, due to the seperation of the two campuses.
There are a number of restaurants and social established on both sides
of the campus and the crowds tend to go along the lines of the
associated schools, so students have the ability of choosing between an
older social environment or the typical undergraduate environment.
There are a number of housing oppertunities, both close to campus and
some distance away from campus. Housing expenses are moderate, more
expensive downtown, and less expensive some distance away from campus.
Campus is also located only a few miles from downtown Minneapolis so
students have rather easy access to the downtown atmosphere with shops,
restaurants, clubs, and major professional sporting events.
