Admission & Application Survey |
| Law |
The University of Minnesota is a top twenty law school and is,
therefore, one of the more difficult law schools as far as admittance
goes. A high undergraduate GPA and high LSAT scores are important in
the admissions process. However, U of Minn has a policy of reviewing
in entirety each application and does not exclude any applicatin solely
on the basis of numbers. It has become apparent to me through
discussions with other first year law students that the admissions
standards at U of Minn are somewhat different than other top law
schools in that a great deal of weight is given to activities, work
experience, and essays. This is not to say that numbers are not
important, but a strong showing of abilities through other means may
allow someone to overcome somewhat lower numbers in the admissions
process. The Law School does not conduct interviews but does offer
several information sessions for admitted students and/or students
seeking admission. I attended one of these sessions and found it
extremely informative, not only in so far as information about the
school, but also for information about the admissions process and what
is looked for in an application for admittance.
