Ann Arbor is an undergraduate college town. This is not a problem if you
want to party like an undergraduate (cheap beer, loud and smoky bars,
etc.). The food is almost uniformly bad. It is impossible to get good
fruits, vegetables, or meat in the supermarkets. Restaurants tend to
serve bland food of the meat and potato variety. The Chinese food in Ann
Arbor is inedible. Detroit is a long drive on bad highways. However,
the students at Michigan are in general fun and interesting people, so
there are compensations. Michigan's social culture generally revolves
around alcohol (the school also provides it at most social events). Many
people date either other law students or Medical students.
