Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time law program |
The admissions process used to be less selective. Many applicants who
met certain baseline statistics were simply admitted by the director,
without any review from a board of professors/administration. However,
the class of 2005 ended up being a bit larger than expected, due to
more individuals attending graduate school instead of fighting the job
market. This has resulted in the school raising the bar on
admissions. Not only was the 2006 class smaller, according to many
students who saw KU as their back-up option, didn't get in. Rumor has
it that the administration is using the "over-admittance" in the 2005
class as an excuse to raise the quality and decrease the quantity of
its entering classes.
Scholarships are pretty much non-existent. In-state students have a
much better chance of landing some measure of financial assistance.
Compared to other schools, however, don't expect much in the way of
financial incentives to attend. To increase your chances of a
scholarship, apply as soon as possible . . . otherwise, you will be put
on a waiting list for a scholarship . . . and unless enough people
decide not to attend law school, you're out of luck.
