Career Services is helpful if you are interested in working in
a large firm in Chicago. Large firms tend to hire people in the top 25-30% of
the
class. I am currently a 3L with a job lined up at a large firm. All of the
large Chicago firms recruit and hire students from Illinois. Going out of state
is more challenging (especially if you want to leave the Midwest -- it's
relatively easy to transition to other cities in the Midwest i.e. St. Louis,
Indy, Minneapolis, Detroit, Kansas City). You need to to a lot of your own
legwork if you want to work on either coast.
