Quality of Life Survey |
| Full-time law program |
There is decent modestly priced housing in Hyde Park, particularly if
you find someone to share a two-bedroom with. Many first year students
live in the New Grad residence hall near the law quadrangle and while
it is expensive it is congenial and luxurious and the residents get to
knwo each other quickly are congenial. Chicago of course is a great
city and many law students choose to live on the North side to take
advantage of all it has to offer while putting a healty distance
(phyisically and psychologically) between their abodes and the law
school. That eats up time, though, and can get tough during exams when
you are up all night, or in the second and third years if on the Law
Review or another journal. For those not used to them, the harsh
winters may be said to impinge on the quality of life, and
substantially so, but the indoor athletic facilities are actually quite
good, and Chicago students seems to understand and accept that the
purpose of law school (or, at least, the University of Chicago Law
School) is to work your butt off for 32 months, not to enjoy the great
outdoors.
