Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time law program |
The Dean of Admissions used to read all the applications himself. That
task has now been divided and there is a small admissions committee.
The admissions process is similar to that of other competitive law
schools - the criteria are mostly objective, but they read your essay
carefully to sense how good a writer and thinker you are. Chicago is
unique among top law schools, however, in that they grant admissions
interviews on a selective basis. Thus, if your credentials aren't
quite sterling (though they would need to be close in any event) but
you seem an interesting/colorful character who might add something a
little different to the student body, you may be accorded an interview
and thus given a chance to win over the interviewer (usually on of the
co-Dean of Admissions, one of whom is a member of the class of '96)
with your awesome personality and/or accomplishments outside the
classroon and the LSAT hall.
