Quality of Life Survey |
| full time law program |
The best part. UCLA is beautiful campus with magnificent architecture
and breathtaking scenery.
Although the campus is really large, the law school is a small
community in itself. It is self-contained unit, boasting its own
records, admissions, alumni, recruitment and financial aid offices.
The student body is made up of approximately 1000 bright, energetic
students. With the exception of a few nasty folks, the student body is
warm, thoughtful and pleasant. Indeed, the student body really makes
the law school. Of course, the law school can claim to have a large
number of the leading scholars on their faculty but, without the
students, these features would be empty.
Quality of life. Come on, it's LA. There is an something here for
everyone. The weather is perfect and there are gorgeous beaches within
10 miles of campus. The food is delicious and ranges from Japanese to
West African.
Housing. There are plenty of places to live in LA or surrounding
communities, including student housing (just remember to apply early
and call often regarding placement). However, the reality is that the
rent is pricey. If you are coming from a small town or lived at home
for free, expect a shock. Rent prices are outrageous, but you can find
affordable housing not far from campus if you look and look early.
Also, if money is tight, I suggest finding a "cool" roommate.
Crime and safety. West LA is relatively safe. I haven't heard of any
major crimes occuring in my neighborhood and most people feel
comfortable walking at night alone or with one other person.
