Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time law program |
Davis law was, in the not so distant past, fall back school amongst the
top 30 law schools. Being in an obscure, rural locale didn't help it
rise to the top of the list for most applicants. Not so now with 4,400
applications coming in for the class of 2006; that works out to about 27
applicants for every seat. Admissions at Davis Law is now and will be in
the future extremely competitive. The current 1L is chock full of
students who attended undergrads such as Yale, Harvard, Berkeley, UCLA,
Penn (the Ivy One) and a particularly high representation of Stanford
alum. Now that this high calibre of students has been achieved, it can
be a safe bet that they are not about to settle for too much less.
Because Davis Law is not a strict GPA/LSAT ratio school they tend to
attract students who have done so much more than be a regular students
anything from chemistry PhDs from Princton to former car salesmen. Best
advice on admissions:
-sell your other points besides the basics. That will bring you in line
with the current make-up of the student body.
-get that application in as early as possible. Again with a school that
now has its pick of the best potential students either from the academic
or real world, you need to get the front of the line
-There isn't an interview process but the essay portion of the
application should be used to answer the questions you know they would
ask if they did have an interview process. Also sell yourself in the
same way you would if you were a product in a commercial-get the things
out there that will get them to buy you.
