Quality of Life Survey |
| Full Time Law program |
Quality of life - the social life is fine but a little cliquish I
guess. That's ok as long as you like your clique.
Housing - plenty of good options near campus (the school is in downtown
Chicago, after all). Lots of people live in Lincoln Park or other
trendy parts of the city - the commute isn't all that bad. But stay
away at all costs from the school dorms (Lake Shore Center).
Northwestern should be embarassed to be associated with that building -
it's a real crackhouse and not even all that cheap compared to the
nearby buildings that are 500% nicer.
School facilities - first rate. The library is spacious and beautiful
(lake view). Wireless access is pretty good throughout the campus, so
its easy to goof off during boring lectures. Everything is purple
though.
Dining - not bad - the school is in the shopping district so the dining
options tend to skew expensive, but there are some cheap options
nearby. Don't go near the school cafeterias - they suck worse than the
school dorms.
Neighborhood - unfortunately its pretty dead at night. When people
have time to go out they usually go to Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville or
elsewhere. However, if you like shopping there's no better place in
the country (3 blocks from the Mag. Mile).
Crime and Safety - haven't heard of any problems aside from some
security issues at (big surprise) the Lake Shore Center.
