The past two years has seen a dramatic increase in the emphasis of the numerics: GPA and LSAT. Interviewing was "pseudo-mandatory", but - at leaste for on campus interviews - it's seems not to be very important. Last year, I arranged for one of my former colleagues with substantial IP experience in the publishing field to have an interview with a faculty member. The faculty member recommended him for admission, but he was denied on the basis of his three-year-old college GPA!
