JD Program NYU is certainly a hard school to get into -- and has gotten more competitive since I started. Two friends and I were teaching assistants for a first year class and we joked (sort of) that the new batch of students were way smarter than us. Like all top law schools, I think NYU is looking for high LSAT scores and good grades. Taking some time off in between undergrad and law school doesn't hurt. If you get on the waitlist, be persistent, send letters, make phone calls. Some of my friends who got in off the waitlist turned out to be some of the best students. Like most law schools, there is no formal interview process, but you can make an appointment to speak with someone in admissions, and if NYU is your top choice, it couldn't hurt to show your face and express just how interested you are. An additional piece of info -- everyone I know at NYU also got into Columbia.
