The Law school has an amazing network of Alumni. They are always willing to work
with the law school and its students. They are extremely active. There were some
hard feelings about the law school's move from Detroit to East Lansing. However,
I have had positive experiences. It is through the foundation of our alumni the
MSU-DCL has a solid reputation throughout Michigan for graduating solid,
well-educated students.
The career services office has the best intentions, but I have had a few
problems concerning communication. The career services office is a resource, but
needs to improve its services with respect to 1L'S and Evening students. Many
First years and evening students don't know what their options are with regards
to employment/ internship opportunities.
Career Services should be commended on its efforts to build relationships with
many firms in the interest of its students. They have worked hard to bring in
more leads for its students. OCI brings a good amount of employers, mainly
Michigan firms to campus. From my experience most students gain employment
through their own initiative. The law school does offer plenty of
seminars/discussions/panels concerning different types of employment (government
job opportunities, externships, and non-legal options), resume and etiquette
tips.
