LLS is located in down town L.A., about half a mile from the Staples
Center. While the surrounding environs are not the most desirable, I
never felt unsafe or uncomfortable while at school. In fact, unlike
USC, which is about 5 or 10 mins away and has an open campus, LLS has a
closed campus with round-the-clock security. Moreover, the law school
is much larger and self-contained that other law schools. You rarely
needed to leave campus for anything (except to go home).
Also, in recent years, the area surrounding LLS has experienced a lot of
growth and renovation--i.e., construction of the Staples Center and
Medici Luxury apartment. There is an ongoing effort to attract
professions to the downtown area. With traffic being as horrible as it
is, any efforts at renovation will likely be quickly rewarded.
