Quality of Life Survey |
| full-time law program |
There's a lot not to like about Georgetown. The on-campus housing is
pretty limited: small, cramped apartments across the street from the
classroom building. Most people live off-campus. The DC area is very
expensive, and many of the neighborhoods are beyond unsafe. There's
almost no parking on campus right now, so most people Metro, and it's a
hike from the nearest station with all those books. The library and
classroom buildings are very nice. Most classrooms have internet access
for laptops, and the library collection is extensive and well-housed.
On-campus dining is ok; there's a cafeteria and a coffee stand in the
classroom building. It's typical cafeteria food; there are long lines
at lunchtimes, they run out of stuff, the staff is pretty surly, though
I'd be surly if I dealt with obnoxious pre-lawyers all day too.
They're building a new building that's going to have better fitness
facilities and a bunch of other supposedly exciting stuff.
The neighborhood is not the greatest, but at least the park where the
crack addicts spent the day is being built over. There's a lot of
homelessness in the area; in addition, there are frequently reports of
people getting mugged/assaulted on the way to the Metro at night.
