Historically,
students who finish their first year in the top 25% of the class find job offers
from the first two weeks of interviewing. Lately, this hasn't been the case,
and
many of my peers complain that the career center is not helpful. Personally, I
have found the career center to be very receptive to students who need help with
their resumes, have questions about particular law firms or clerkships, or need
advice regarding interviews.
Career advisors are always available to meet one on one with students, and the
online on-campus interview scheduling process, which enables students to upload
resumes and prioritize law firms, works very well. Every top law firm
interviews at our school, and 9 out of 10 on campus interviewers are Fordham
Alumni. This speaks very highly of Fordham's alumni network. The career center
and its eagerness to assist students in securing jobs is definitely one of the
few redeeming departments at Fordham.
