I think I speak for most when I say that we like the people in career services
but we don't feel they do enough for us. At the same time, they, as we, are
burdened by a terrible economy in NYC, so maybe there is not much more they
could
do for us. They devote a great deal of attention to Early Interview Week, which
is a law school institution, nationally. During that week, law firms go to
campuses across the country to recruit. Fordham attracts all the major firms to
campus, but law is very rank-conscious and we rank below Columbia and NYU so
only
our top students do really well during Early Interview Week. The placement
office does have many resources - books, contacts, etc - but we all work so
hard.
We wish getting a job was a little easier. This year the career planning
office
has done a very good job of promoting judicial clerkship opportunities - the
office as urged students to apply and made the application process very easy.
Internship opportunities are announced to us via e-mail throughout the school
year and it appears that we are sought as interns by high prestige courts and
public interest law providers.
